Napoli...

..is no fun really. it is kinda really gross here actually.. dirty and just old and yucky... nothing to do either..

No trips today!! Woohooo a day of rest! Kristi didn’t have any either so we decided today would be a sleep in day and just easy day out exploring a bit, eating, and internet.. and we mostly succeeded in our efforts…

We woke up and got ready and left the ship at noon with Jackie. Our mission was to find somewhere to eat lunch.. well naples is a little less than to be desired…  and for some reason everywhere is closed on Saturday too! So we walked ALL over the place to try to find somewhere to eat.  Finally we came upon like the first restaurant looking place and it was a pizzeria and mind you we had been walking around for like an hour now so we just said go for it and ate there.  We had two Margareta pizza’s like I mentioned in yesterdays blog and it was pretty good.  It was a really fun lunch though because we were like the only ones there and there were like 8 or maybe 9 guys that were working there.. some older some younger a mix of ages.. but it was really funny because every so often our waiter would come check on us and then we would start talking to him and all the others would come out and try talking to us too. Then they would go away and then they would come back and go away and come back.. but as soon as we started talking to one they were all there.. it was funny

 They problem though was that they could hardly speak English and we all cant speak any Italian.  Somehow we all made it work though. They were joking around and said the one kid was gay and then one of them had a tattoo on his arm that read “never back down” so we thought it was cool that it was in English because back home everyone puts them in other languages like Italian and Chinese and so it was interesting to see that they do that too just with English! We tried to ask them where an internet café was and they said that there weren’t really any around.. but that there was an internet point just down the street and one of them offered to walk us there! They were all very sweet and said ciao to each of us as we left and shook our hands.. but one of them one of the older ones like I think some of the others were his sons.. anyways he shook my hand and did the double check kiss that was my first one yet! Haha it was kinda exciting because at some of our meetings they were like don’t be caught off guard or surprised or disgusted when people do that to you because that’s just what they do to everyone its like their hand shake.. so that was cool they were very nice.  So then the one did was us to the internet point.. to find out it was closed.. which really was a huge bummer.. along the way though we were trying to talk to him and he asked us where we were saying but he didn’t understand boat, ship or barco so I noticed he had a pen in his hand and I had paper in my vera so we resorted to drawing everything out.. it was fun it was like picturades =)

After we found out the place was closed he asked us where we wanted to go and we said the ship and so he walked us back there too!!! How nice was he!!!  He asked us along the way what we were doing that night and if we wanted to go dancing at 1 AM! Man they are like on spain time with that.. but the 3 of us look shocked when he said that and he was like what? what? And we all said how we would be asleep by then and he thought that was so weird.. he also at one point asked if i thought Napoli was beautiful... welll i dont think so and i tried to say yes but it read on my face that i really didnt think so.. so he was like no? and to try to cover it up a little and not be really rude i was like ROMA!! because earlier in the restaurant we told them how we went to rome yesterday... all in all it was just really cool interaction with the locals..

So we got back on the ship for a bit and grabbed our computers to go try to see if McDonalds would work because we have heard from other SAS people that that is where they have gone…   well we got there to find out you need an Italian phone number to get it because they text you the password.. grr.. so we looked around for more cafes and got nothing so we went back to the ship…

we decided to see what movies were playing today! Guess what! They were the first good ones this whole time! We saw like half of each though.. Monsters INC. Slumdog Millionaire, and Maid in Manhattan! Then we ate dinner and decided to go back out in hopes of internet..  we decided to try what the others apparently did before at McDonalds.. ask people to help us and give us their numbers to type in.. well that was a feat let me tell you… when we first got there and pulled out the laptops everyone there was like looking at us as if we were crazy.. it was weird.. then a bunch of younger girls came over and tried to talk to us and they were a little rowdy but we were trying to get connected because they would have totally been the type to plug in their number but it wouldn’t load and eventually they left…  then I tried asking this one table and Kristi was asking other people and my people were totally into helping out it was awesome and Kristi got a group trying to help her out.. well finally I got it!! I was so excited I hugged the 4 guys and girl helping me out!!! They were a little stunned by this but I was sooooooo excited you have no idea.. then they asked if they could take their picture with me it was funny but I totally did it.. unfortunately I didn’t have my camera with me though so I don’t have one.. =(  but all in all the best news of all was that I finally got to talk to SEAN!!!!! We tried to get video to work but it did the same thing it did when I tried to talk with my family I could see him but he couldn’t see me.. and I was on my computer this time.. we tried a few times to get it work but just gave up.. it was really nice to get to see him though and talk after 3 weeks of emails! It was a great way to end my night! The bad part though, was that the struggle to get the internet to connect ate up most of my battery and so I didn’t get to talk to sean too long.. I don’t understand why my battery isn’t lasting as long as it is supposed to, it’s really making me mad..

anyways the days long adventure to find internet and finally talk to sean finally worked out and that’s all that matters!
